I know that his books may not be familiar to a lot of you; however the writing world has lost a wonderful man. William G. Tapply died this week. He was one of my writing professors in college and he was a great mentor. I really don't know what to say, but I wanted to at least say something.
I promised him that I'd finish my novel and I will do that even though he'll never see it.

I'm back!
Now that my internship is over, I will definitely be giving my blog the attention it deserves. I am sorry that it took me so long to come back, but things got crazier than I thought they would. Also, at the end of the day my brain did not have the mental capacity to write any good reviews. I didn't want to waste anyone's time with drudge that a five year old could have written. On the bright side I ended up having a great experience where I learned a lot and also got an A!
I should have another review for you by the end of the weekend. I already wrote it, it just needs some tweaking. I hope everyone is having a great summer thus far and I am happy to say that mine has finally started! Although, I could do without the 90% or more humidity... YUCK!

All her world's a stage.
Beatrice Shakespeare Smith is not an actress, yet she lives in a theater.
She's not an orphan, but she has no parents.
She knows every part, but she has no lines of her own.
Until now.
Enter Stage Right
Nate: Dashing pirate. Will do anything to protect Bertie (as she's known at the theater).
Cobweb, Moth, Mustardseed, and Pleaseblossom: Four tiny and Incredibly annoying fairies. Bertie's sidekicks.
Ariel: Seductive air spirit and Bertie's weakness. The symbol of impending doom.
Bertie: Our heroine.
Welcome to the Theatre Illuminata, where the characters of every play ever written can be found behind the curtain. They were born to play their parts, and are bound to the Theatre by The Book - an ancient and magical tome of scripts. Bertie is not one of them, but they are her family... and she is about to lose them all and the only home she has ever known.
"Eyes Like Stars" has everything a good book should down to beautiful cover art. The characters light up the pages with performances that are rarely found elsewhere. I started to list all the memorable characters, but the list just got too long because they all have vibrant personalities. The plot was very unique and well thought out. The theatre and the players come alive inviting you to go read further. I stayed up way too late reading this book, but the lack of sleep was worth it. I wish the second book "Perchance to Dream" was out because the first book left me begging for more! I actually got a call immediately after finishing "Eyes Like Stars" and I was having trouble focusing on what the person was saying. I was too busy thinking "what is going to happen?" I love when I finish a book and I need time to process everything that happened.
I would definitely recommend "Eyes Like Stars" to anyone who enjoys fantasy, classics, the theater, or loves fantastic books. I read a lot of great reviews on Mantchev's book and I was not at all disappointed. It was worth the price of a hardcover and will be a part of my permanent library.
The book has a great website featuring information about the cover artist, author, character bios, and even a preview of the first chapter! Check out the website to the book here.

MIA
I wanted to apologize for disappearing for the last few weeks. My internship on top of my full time job is taking over my whole life. I was hoping to have most of the work done by today; however, nothing seems to go as planned. Everything is due by next week, so I'll be back to posting on a regular basis in a little over a week.

On My Chair
This is where I post the books that I borrow from the library, buy, or I receive via mail in the last week.

I have about 100 pages left of the book and so far I am completely in love with it. I hope to finish the rest of it tonight so that I can post a review within the next couple of days.
"Going Too Far"by Jennifer Echols
How Far Would You Go?
All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end livers. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far... and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge- and over...
This book I won in a contest at serenarobar.com thanks Serena!

"Eyes Like Stars" is finally here!
I totally almost freaked out at work because I saw that "Eyes Like Stars" is now available! It took all my efforts not to burst out in tears! That's how excited I was. I was telling everyone I work with about the book and now they all want to read it! "Twenty Boys Summer" is also available and I was going to borrow that until I saw "Eyes Like Stars". I know this post is pretty silly and random, but I couldn't contain myself! I might have to stay up all night reading it... good thing I don't have to be at work until 2 PM tomorrow! SCORE!
