Thursday Update

Today was such a yucky day! It was the first really cold day and of course it had to rain. My winter coat and boots are out for the season I think... :/
On this yucky day I finally managed to get all the boxes and trash out of my apartment from when I moved in (that was 5 months ago to the day). But everything is finally done! I also spent some time to do a bit of cleaning and put out some Halloween decorations!

Yes it is a little late, but I'll probably leave them up until I put up my Christmas Tree.
I thought I had a lot more decorations... they may have gotten left behind at my old apartment.

Thursday Update

I am so excited that I got myself back to running at the gym today! I should really say jogging because the treadmill was only at 5.0... but it just isn't as exciting when I put it that way. I need to find some good audio books to listen to at the gym. I just finished "Dead and Gone" and need something new and exciting. If anyone has suggestions I would be grateful!

I Watched Can’t Hardly Wait last night. I forgot how many celebrities are in it. I’m not just talking about Freddie Prinze Jr., Mattthew Lillard, and Paul Walker. Sarah Michelle Gellar appears for 5 seconds. Anna Paquin plays Zach’s sister. Lil’ Kim is one of Taylor Vaughan’s friends and we can’t forget Usher as the DJ. I love watching older movies because you realize all the random people who are in them. Even though the movie is really cheesy and my high school was NOTHING like it, I still have a special place in my heart for it.

I think that is it for this week. School is taking over my life again, so I don't have too much excitement going on. Luckily it is only for 2 more months!

Thursday Update

This is my big news of the week. The car that I've had for 8 years has finally driven over 100,000 miles! I really hope that it continues to be as reliable as it has been. The car is only a month or so shy of being 10... *crosses fingers*.
In other news, I finished "My Soul To Take", which I thought was awesome! I hope to post a review soon, but school is taking over my life. I have at least 300 pages of text book reading to do over the next week, so it may be a while before I get all caught up.
I thought there was something else I wanted to write about... but I am seriously dead tired and I can't think of it. I think I'll read some scary stories before I go to bed and hope they don't give me nightmares.

Thursday Update

Today is a big day! It is my first day of classes for my last semester of my graduate degree! I have been in school for far too many years in a row. I am so excited to have only 3 more months left.
In book related news, I have already completed 3 books for the R.I.P IV Challenge (in the order I completed them): "Shiver", "City of Glass", and "From Dead to Worse". I will probably finish "My Soul to Take" by the end of the week, so I'll have met that goal of the challenge already. This does not mean I will stop reading books for the challenges, I want to read at least 2 more for me to review! I should probably start focusing on the short stories... that might be a good game plan!
I watched "28 Days Later" for the first time in years and I forgot how awesome it was. That movie has everything going for it. The plot is great, you root for the characters the whole movie, the music is wonderful, and the cinematography just adds to the horror of it all! I don't care if people think the idea of being infected with rage is stupid, because I think it sounds pretty scary to me.
I really wanted to write more, but I have so much to do before my classes start today. Happy Thursday everyone!

Thursday Update

I remember I came up with this in February and I cannot remember the last time I posted on of these... oh well! Better to get back on track late than never! I'll refresh your memory about the purpose of these posts: sometimes I want to share random information about stuff I'm watching or anything else that may be fun information other people want to know... but then I never end up posting it because it has nothing to do with books. These posts will allow me to share this information without letting it overtake the main purpose of this blog. I'll try to post these every week, but life sometimes gets in the way of these things.
This week I saw the movie "District 9". I wasn't really sure what to expect from the movie because I heard it was fantastic, but I didn't want to know too much about the plot. I like being surprised and people tend to give a little too much information away. Honestly the movie was awesome. It isn't the typical aliens attacking thriller movie a lot of people expect and that's why it was so great. There was a lot of depth behind the plot and the movie made the aliens sympathetic. It was almost like watching a movie about minorities being persecuted, but it was aliens. It had scenes that were hard to watch and a bit disturbing, but that's what made it so great. Those kind of scenes made the movie believable. It's a movie that definitely makes you think. I didn't even realize this movie was rated R until I looked it up right now because I ALWAYS get carded going into rated R movies and this time I didn't! I guess I finally look older than a high school student. So sorry if I just got some of you really excited about a movie you can't see.
Other exciting news... I joined a gym. I used to work out all the time, but then I got an internship and had no time. I also am trying to live on a really strict budget and my building has a gym in it, but it is way too hot to work out in and most of the machines are broken. Now I have a membership to Bally's, which I am loving so far. It isn't too expensive, but there aren't a lot of locations. I haven't taken any classes, but I hope to do so soon.

Thursday Update

I want to apologize again for disappearing for a few weeks. I serious was running around like crazy! One of the major reasons that I was so crazed was that I just moved to a new apartment. I am still moving some stuff in, but for the most part I am finally done. I just have 3 more boxes of stuff to put away. I really want to post pictures of my beautiful apartment, but I haven’t figured out where to get rid of all the boxes I used to move.
Another reason I was so busy was because I had my 24th birthday last weekend. I can't believe I'm 24... I know it isn't old or anything, but it just goes by so fast! The crazy thing is that I've been so busy that I haven't even had a chance to celebrate with anyone besides my parents and brother. I spent my birthday buying new furniture for my apartment and unpacking boxes. It was totally worth it though : )
I also had an event I was planning for work and I went to Rick Riordan's author signing. He spoke before the signing and told everyone about some of his new projects. He is going to be releasing a new series about Camp Half-Blood focusing on different characters. He is also working on a series of modern day Egyptian mythology. The Camp Half-Blood book and the first book of his new series will both be released next year! I am SOO excited. I just love his writing style!
Another project that I've been working on is finding a way to hook up my computer to my TV so that I can watch Netflix instant play movies offline on my TV. I FINALLY got it working last night and it is the coolest thing! The picture quality is amazing and I don't have to watch movies on my tiny computer screen. The sound quality isn't too great, but it would be the same as if I was watching it off my laptop speakers. Overall it was a great investment and was well worth the $30 dollars I spent on cables.
ALSO, I started an Internship at a library this week, so I'm basically working a 55-hour workweek from now until the end of July. That means no days off from work, unless I use vacation time. It is going to be a crazy few months, but I'll do my best to post regularly.

Thursday Update

I want to apologize for disappearing for the last week! I have been running around like crazy wrapping up my finals, searching for an apartment, and of course working. I have my last presentation tonight, so I'm really close to being done for the semester! I also will be dropping off the remaining paperwork for the apartment application that I filled out. So I'll get back to my postings within the next few days.
I watched the movie "27 Dresses" the other night. I thought it was cute overall, but I just wasn't a huge fan. I thought there were only a handful of funny parts. Part of the reason I may not have enjoyed it that much is because James Marsden really annoys me. He just strikes the wrong cord in me. Like I really disliked him in the "X-men" movies. I wasn't even sad about what happened to his character in the 3rd movie. I love Katherine Heigl though, so I was kind of disappointed.
I need to get ready for my final, so sadly this is all I have time to report on. I did finishing reading The Roar and I'm hoping to have that review done in the next couple of days.

Thursday Update

I really don't have much to post here because my finals are due next week and I have to move out of my apartment soon so I'm super busy!
I discovered a really amazing frozen pizza that is actually relatively low calorie for having sausage and pepperoni. It is Newman's Own Supreme Thin & Crispy it only has 320 calories per serving and a serving is a third of the pizza. The pizzas are a decent size and are loaded with toppings. I feel like an add... but seriously they are SOO good. They come out of the oven nice and crispy too! Oh man I'm totally making myself hungry. Speaking of food... one of my favorite reality shows is Ace of Cakes! If you haven't watched it, then you need to! The people who work there are so awesome, it looks like the best job ever. Although they do really tedious things... I hate that. I think Geof is my favorite person in the bakery. His humor is amazing. Duff, Mary Alice, Anna, and Adam are all really cool too. Who am I kidding? They are all great!
On a sad note, my dog died last weekend... so R.I.P. Lulu. I won't go through all the details, but I had her for around 14 years so it was a big shock. I mean yes she was old, but it was sudden. That's just how life goes.

Thursday Updates

This week's blog entry is going to focus on movies that I've watched recently.

This weekend I saw "I Love You, Man" and I loved it! It was hilarious and had a great message behind it. If you like Paul Rudd or/and Jason Segel then this is a movie you must see. They both play their roles perfectly and the movie managed to enhanced my huge crush on Jason Segel! If you do not know who Jason Segel is then you need to watch "How I Met Your Mother", "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", "Freaks and Geeks" (he is a dream boat in this movie!), and "Knocked Up". He also has a tiny role in "Can't Hardly Wait" as "Watermelon Guy", which you can view on YouTube.

I also really enjoyed the movie "He's just not that Into You". It was just a lot of fun and basically summed up everything in the book into a couple of hours. I would still suggest reading the book for any female who wants to better understand guys they are in relationships with.

I am also happy to say that I finally got a chance to watch my "Twilight" DVD last night. Of course I saw the movie opening night, but I hadn't gotten a chance to see it since then. Honestly, I don't think I'd enjoy it as much if I didn't think Robert Pattinson was such a hotty. Tall, dark, and handsome... totally my type. Although I have to say that he's no Jason Segel. I would totally date Robert Pattinson but I think I would rather marry Jason Segel... like either of those day dreams will EVER happen! ANYWAY! Other than Robert Pattinson, the next best thing about the Twilight movie is the soundtrack. It has really great songs throughout the whole movie. Especially the baseball scene! That is probably my favorite part of the movie.

"Prom Night" the remake is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. it was just totally generic and unrealistic in so many different ways. I have to say that this is a movie that I wouldn't bother watching. I love horror movies, especially cheesy ones... but there was nothing redeeming about "Prom Night".

Sometimes I want to share random information about stuff I'm watching or anything else that may be fun information other people want to know... but then I never end up posting it because it has nothing to do with books. These posts will allow me to share this information without letting it overtake the main purpose of this blog. I'll try to post these every week, but life sometimes gets in the way of these things.

I was so excited today to find out that Lionsgate obtained the rights to "The Hunger Games". That book is definitely one of my favorites. If you haven't read it yet, you should put it to the front of your reading list! Click here if you want to look at the article about the movie.

Part of the reason I've been slacking a bit on my posts is that I've been watching tons of Sailor Moon. They used to have it on TV really early in the morning when I was a kid so I was only able to watch a few episodes. It is kind of ridiculous... but I love it anyway! Romance, action, adorable, and random... these are a few of my favorite things. ; )
